Quality Assurance Manager Jobs

Quality Assurance (QA) ensures that the product, service or manner in which an organisation functions meets a certain level of quality be it either adhering to an internal or external QA system.

QA management jobs – what is involved?

The main focus of quality assurance manager jobs will include implementing an internal or external quality management system across the organisation, ensuring that the business and employees have clear criteria and systems to work to and such systems can improve productivity, quality and efficiency of the organisation. External QA systems include ISO 9001 & 14001 and OHSAS 18001 (amongst others).

Since maintaining quality demands constant change to meet customer expectations, quality assurance (QA) managers utilise a variety of measures including management systems such as ISO 9000, Total Quality Management and methodologies such as Continuous Improvement.

The work of the QA manager varies but typical responsibilities within QA Managers jobs include:

  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement across the company
  • Applying environmental and health/safety standards
  • Setting QA compliance objectives
  • Establishing service standards
  • Assessing suppliers' and own company's product specifications and customer requirements
  • Working with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
  • Ensuring compliance with national and international standards and legislation
  • Setting standards and establishing clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply
  • Conducting quality-related training needs analysis
  • Carrying out regular audits on sites, products and staff ensuring that the set QA systems are being adhered to and implemented successfully
  • Compiling technical and management system reports
  • Uniting staff from various departments and driving the group to plan and agree quality procedures
  • Preparing customers' charters
  • Monitoring performance through gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.
  • Preparing for and managing external audits
